Children in the First Steps program are given a joyful introduction to the world of ballet. Through gentle exercises and imaginative movement, students are taught spatial awareness, rhythm, balance, and coordination. The beginnings of ballet terminology are taught, and the great ballets are introduced to children as they dance their way into the stories. Along with class skills, it is important, even at this early stage, to instill the value of kindness and working with one another - planting seeds of camaraderie instead of exclusivity.

At the age of 5, in Pre-Ballet, class structure begins to formalize and expectations increase, but it is all still work disguised as play.  At this level, the aim is to build the enthusiasm and reverence that will serve them throughout the rest of their studies.

Registration for our First Steps Programs is by session.  Session 1 is from August 31-December 19 (15 weeks), and Session 2 is from January 11-May 22 (18 weeks).
